Intergenerational project with Generation Arts and local school children

Literally and metaphorically, hoorah! Our latest newsletter is here and we’ve filled it full of things to keep you connected and creative over the winter months.

Join us for a series of creative projects at home that don’t require a screen, internet access or a smart phone. Thank goodness for that. Click here for further info.

We’re delighted to be able to bring to life the wonderful Stoneyburn Stories Walking Trail we created with the town in 2017.  Heritage signage will be installed in the 10 trail locations and the design of these are now underway. To view the book or map, and to have your say on this next exciting stage of the project, please click here.

While our community classes remain closed we have three things that will encourage your creativity and keep well in our own home. Join us for Boundless as described above – no screen neccessary! We are running one song and one dance class online weekly over Zoom, see here for details and last but not least we have  gathered the best creative activity available online for us all to enjoy. We will keep adding to this as new offerings become available. Please click on the link below which will take you to our Facebook page and then scroll down for ways to have fun, stay active and keep creating. We’ll see each and every one of you soon.

With love from us all at Generation Arts.

Generation Arts engages older people across West Lothian in non-competitive, expressive and creative activities that promote independence, confidence and good mental and physical health. We reach hundreds of people every year through our range of activities, which include arts groups, choirs, taster sessions, dance and intergenerational projects. Read our most recent newsletter here.

Throughout the year we run a broad programme of activities in the community and in care settings for people in West Lothian aged over 50+. Click on our Programme page for details of activities near you and holiday dates and our News page for photographs and poetry from recent events. View a short film documenting our work here.

We coordinate activity in local arts venues, as well as community centres, day care, residential care homes and other places at the heart of West Lothian’s many communities. Our partners are West Lothian Council Community Arts, Age Scotland, West Lothian Council Social Policy, West Lothian 50+ Network, Ageing Well, Care Activity Network and Health in Later Life group. We all work with older people and recognise that by pulling together and sharing information we can have a greater holistic beneficial effect to create healthier happier communities.
